Refurbishment of the 21 storey high building (in 1982) with 543 beds and new building of 5 floors and central atrium housing intensive care unit (71 beds), operation theatres and emergency center. Charité extends over four campuses, and has over 100 different Departments and Institutes, which make up a total of 17 different CharitéCenters.
